Residents and some business owners in Glendale want the tax hike, which was instituted Aug. 1, to be repealed. Their group, Save Glendale Now, has pushed for the issue to be brought before voters and wants to limit future sales tax increases. Business owners say the 0.7-percent increase could significantly affect businesses in Glendale.
Glendale leaders amended the sales tax rules in the summer to exempt purchases of items that cost more than $5,000, which means that many used car and boat sales will not be affect by the sales tax increase.
